Botox and Dysport are treatments that are injected into muscles to temporarily smooth fine lines and wrinkles and also produce a lifting effect in areas like the brows. Botox can be used as corrective and preventative treatment.
Botox® and Dysport are used to block nerve impulses leading to tiny facial muscles, thus relaxing the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled, while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion. Tiny amounts of Botox® injected precisely and safely into locations on the face results in the smoothing of lines and creases, and eliminates the tired, unhappy or fatigued look caused by the over-contracting of muscles.
Many people are concerned that their Botox® or Dysport will produce a “plastic” or unnatural look, but the opposite is true. At BDA we can personalize your treatments to result in a happy, rested, and rejuvenated appearance. We can alter crow’s feet, give a brow lift, eliminate crinkling under the eyes, reduce fine lines around the mouth and chin, get rid of forehead lines, and raise the corners of the mouth to allow the real you to show through.
Botox® has an incredibly safe track record. It was originally approved by the FDA in 1989 for therapeutic uses, and was approved in 2002 for the treatment of fine lines/wrinkles for the glabella, crows feet and forehead. Bellaire Dermatology Associates has been recognized as a national Botox® training center for expertise in the use of Botox Cosmetic®. After treatment you can resume normal activities immediately.
Dysport® is another safe neurotoxin that was FDA approved in 2009 to treat forehead wrinkles and frown lines.
On average, patients begin to see their full results in 7-14 days and results typically last from 3 to 4 months.
Botox® is also an excellent remedy for hyperhidrosis, defined as excessive sweating of the face, palms, feet, and under arms. Botox® can be used to markedly reduce the production of sweat in treated areas and the effects can last up to 12 months. BDA is a national Botox® training center and expert in treating this often-embarrassing condition.
Botox can also be used to prevent chronic migraines and teeth grinding.
Juvederm and Restylane are two brands of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers we offer at Bellaire Dermatology. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally throughout the body. As we age, we lose volume in our skin. This loss of volume leads to either a sagging appearance of the face, fine lines, wrinkles, folds, and thin lips. Injectable HA is used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, facial folds, and to create structure, framework, and add volume to the face and lips.
As with any injectable, there is a chance of swelling and bruising that can last up to two weeks and is considered normal.
Results are seen immediately after injecting HA fillers and depending on which filler and where it is injected, results last anywhere from 9 to 18 months.
Bellaire Dermatology also offers a variety of Body Contouring treatments such as Cellfina, Kybella, and QWO. Cellfina offers a one-time permanent cellulite treatment. QWO is a non-surgical, FDA approved injection for the treatment of Cellulite on the buttocks. Kybella is available to destroy fat under the chin area. To learn more about these services, click here.
