Garland James, MMS, PA-C, grew up in Missouri City, Texas. She attended Wiley College in Marshall, Texas where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. Prior to furthering her education, she worked for three years as a Dermatology and Rheumatology Research Coordinator and as a Clinical Assistant.
Garland then went on to obtain her Master of Medical Sciences in Physician Assistant studies from the University of Tennessee in Memphis, 2019. Her clinical rotations included work at Memphis Dermatology, where she observed and assisted on Mohs surgery cases. She completed a capstone research project titled “Overdosed – Physician Assistants Combating the Opiate Crisis in Tennessee.”
She joined the Bellaire Dermatology team in March of 2020 as a Physician Assistant and will also be a part of the Clinical Research team.
She is certified by the National Commission of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Texas Medical Board. Garland is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as a member of Pi Alpha Honor Society and Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society.
Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, sports, reading and spending time with family and friends. She also volunteers at various community fundraisers and events including the Restoration House of Boxing and TIPS to raise awareness of health and wellness.
She is excited to be part of the Bellaire Dermatology family and serving the Houston community.
