Vitamin C & Me

You’ve heard it over and over. You’ve seen it. But, do you use it? Vitamin C is jelly to the peanut butter. The butter to the bread – it just must be fit into your skincare. This simple vitamin has proven to be a game changer in your health – specifically for your skin care. Our team LOVES vitamin C products, but there are a few key products that we have seen are most effective.

Do I really need a Vitamin C?

Short answer – YES! Think of Vitamin C as the N95 for your skin. Vitamin C products work to protect your skin from free radicals. Free radicals are unbalanced molecules that come from our environment, latch to the skin, and cause damages. Damages can range from skin discoloration, aging, and precancerous cells. Free radicals come from pollution, toxins, smog, dust, cigarette smoke, and the sun. Vitamin C products work against free radicals by protecting your skin.

What should I look for in a Vitamin C product?

A topical vitamin C antioxidant must be formulated properly in order to be effective. Based on the research of SkinCeuticals founding scientist Dr. Sheldon Pinnell, SkinCeuticals was the first to discover the exact formulation specifications required for optimal vitamin C absorption and efficacy. This is dependent on three factors, known as the Duke Antioxidant Patent the use of pure vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid), formulated at an acidic pH (below 3.5), and in a concentration between 10 and 20 percent. SkinCeuticals is the only skincare brand to formulate in accordance with these parameters.

When should I apply Vitamin C in my skincare routine?

If you are using a prescription product after cleansing, apply your Vitamin C after your prescription. If you currently are not using a prescription in your skincare routine, it will go on after cleansing.
