Fillers

Dermal Fillers

What Are Fillers?

Juvederm and Restylane are two brands of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers we offer at Bellaire Dermatology in Houston, Texas. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally throughout the body.

As we age, we lose volume in our skin. This loss of volume leads to either a sagging appearance of the face, fine lines, wrinkles, folds, and thin lips.

Injectable HA is used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, facial folds, and to create structure, framework, and add volume to the face and lips.

What are the side effects?

As with any injectable, there is a chance of swelling and bruising that can last up to two weeks and is considered normal.

How long does it take to see results and how long do they last?

Results are seen immediately after injecting HA fillers and depending on which filler and where it is injected, results last anywhere from 9 to 18 months.

Instead, it stimulates your own body’s collagen production, so results appear gradually over a period of a few months. Patients typically need about three monthly treatments to achieve desired results. It can take 4-6 weeks to see the full results. Sculptra is considered semi-permanent, however, you may still need occasional touch-ups.

RHA 2, 3, & 4

Revance’s RHA 2, 3, & 4 are the newest dermal fillers that are used to treat moderate to severe fine lines and wrinkles. RHA’s unique manufacturing process of hyaluronic acid allows for it to resemble our body’s natural hyaluronic acid. This filler can last up to 15 months.
