Dysport

What is Dysport® used for?

Dysport is a prescription injection administered by a licensed healthcare professional for temporary improvement in the look of moderate to severe frown lines ( those wrinkles between the eyebrows) in adults less than 5 years of age.

What are Dysport injections?

Administered by a licensed healthcare professional, Dysport is used to block nerve impulses leading to tiny facial muscles, thus relaxing the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled, while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion. Tiny amounts injected precisely and safely into locations on the face results in the smoothing of lines and creases, and eliminates the tired, unhappy or fatigued look caused by the over-contracting of muscles.

Is It Safe?

Dysport® is a safe neurotoxin that was FDA approved in 2009 to treat forehead wrinkles and frown lines.

Does it hurt and will I have bruising?

When a patient undergoes a cosmetic injectable treatment such as botulinum toxin or fillers, bruising can results from a vein being inadvertently nicked. The face is a particularly vascular area and each patient’s facial anatomy is different. This can become a challenge when trying to locate a proper injection site that will avoid hitting a facial vein. Bellaire Dermatology uses an AccuVein device that emits a light onto the skin showing our Dermatologists the exact areas of the facial veins. This is extremely helpful to avoid injecting at a vessel – allowing our patients to have less bruising and less downtime post treatment.

When will Dysport start to work and how long does it last?

On average, patients begin to see changes an as little as 24 hours, with over half of users seeing improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows within 2-3 days.
