"Body by Bellaire”:
How We Can Help Eliminate Stubborn Fat

Author: Shelby Bonn, MPAS, PA-C

Over the past few years, there has been a growing interest in medications for weight loss and at the forefront remains semaglutide as a leading tool for weight loss management. Here at Bellaire Dermatology, we are committed to helping our patients feel confident in their own skin and that includes weight loss!

How does Semaglutide work?

Semaglutide is a medication that mimics a gut hormone called GLP-1 that is released in response to eating. GLP-1 helps to reduce appetite while also making you feel full for longer periods of time. For many, this results in weight loss.

What are the benefits to taking Semaglutide?

Despite the obvious benefit of weight reduction, semaglutide has also been shown to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death in a study of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and known heart disease.

How quickly can I lose the weight on Semaglutide?

Expect weight loss to happen gradually on semaglutide and keep in mind that your commitment and consistency are keys to success. Regular weight loss is typically seen after 4 to 12 weeks of consistent use of semaglutide. Each person’s results may vary by their starting weight, diet, and exercise. Everyone’s weight loss journey is considered unique and personalized to individual needs at Bellaire Dermatology.

What is “Body by Bellaire”?

Body by Bellaire incorporates the use of CoolTone while simultaneously using semaglutide for reduction of unwanted fat. Studies have shown people taking semaglutide may lose on average up to 6-7% of their muscle mass while on the medication. CoolTone is a helpful way to maintain muscle mass and strength while also losing weight. We encourage the use of CoolTone from the beginning of your weight loss journey to set you up for long-term success in minimizing the loss of muscle and keeping stubborn fat away even after coming off of semaglutide.
