Neuromodulators

Injectables like facial fillers and Botox will help in rejuvenating facial skin by reducing or eliminating wrinkles, raising scar depressions, enhancing lips and replacing soft-tissue volume loss through facial injections.

With age, our skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging. Exposure to sun and years of muscle movement (squinting, chewing, smiling) contribute to tissue breakdown of the skin.

Our National Train practitioners at Bellaire Dermatology can help correct and refresh your look using Dermal Fillers.

What Are Botox® & Dysport®?

Botox and Dysport are treatments that are injected into muscles to temporarily smooth fine lines and wrinkles and also produce a lifting effect in areas like the brows. Botox can be used as corrective and preventative treatment. Botox & Dysport are both popular among our Houston/Bellaire patients as their go to choice for Neurotoxin.

How do they work?

Botox® and Dysport are used to block nerve impulses leading to tiny facial muscles, thus relaxing the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled, while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion. Tiny amounts of Botox® injected precisely and safely into locations on the face results in the smoothing of lines and creases, and eliminates the tired, unhappy or fatigued look caused by the over-contracting of muscles.

Will I look fake?

Many people are concerned that their Botox® or Dysport will produce a “plastic” or unnatural look, but the opposite is true. At BDA we can personalize your treatments to result in a happy, rested, and rejuvenated appearance. We can alter crow’s feet, give a brow lift, eliminate crinkling under the eyes, reduce fine lines around the mouth and chin, get rid of forehead lines, and raise the corners of the mouth to allow the real you to show through.

Is It Safe?

Botox® has an incredibly safe track record. It was originally approved by the FDA in 1989 for therapeutic uses, and was approved in 2002 for the treatment of fine lines/wrinkles for the glabella, crows feet and forehead. Bellaire Dermatology Associates has been recognized as a national Botox® training center for expertise in the use of Botox Cosmetic®. After treatment you can resume normal activities immediately.

Dysport® is another safe neurotoxin that was FDA approved in 2009 to treat forehead wrinkles and frown lines.

Does it hurt and will I have bruising?

When a patient undergoes a cosmetic injectable treatment such as botulinum toxin or fillers, bruising can results from a vein being inadvertently nicked. The face is a particularly vascular area and each patient’s facial anatomy is different. This can become a challenge when trying to locate a proper injection site that will avoid hitting a facial vein. Bellaire Dermatology uses an AccuVein device that emits a light onto the skin showing our Dermatologists the exact areas of the facial veins. This is extremely helpful to avoid injecting at a vessel – allowing our patients to have less bruising and less downtime post treatment.

When will Botox start to work and how long does it last?

On average, patients begin to see their full results in 7-14 days and results typically last from 3 to 4 months.

Botox® Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Botox® is also an excellent remedy for hyperhidrosis, defined as excessive sweating of the face, palms, feet, and under arms. Botox® can be used to markedly reduce the production of sweat in treated areas and the effects can last up to 12 months. BDA is a national Botox® training center and expert in treating this often-embarrassing condition.

Botox® for Migraines

Botox can also be used to prevent chronic migraines and teeth grinding.
